To surpass yesterday and aim to be better than tomorrow- Forever reaching higher.
Teamwork
We train together, learn from each other, and help each other out at every corner and gap.
Focus
Focus is an extremely critical side of Parkour. The level of danger we put ourselves into is no threat so long as we stay focused on what we are doing.
Effort
Pushing your limits. Strengthening the fiber of what you are made of. All of this takes effort- without it, we dont grow.
être et durer
"To be and to last." - The unofficial motto of Parkour, it`s meaning is clear: do what you know you can do and not what you know you cannot.
MIAPK - Miami Parkour and Freerunning
"Parkour (sometimes abbreviated to PK) or l'art du déplacement[1] (English: the art of movement) is an activity with the aim of moving from one point to another as efficiently and quickly as possible, using principally the abilities of the human body.[2][3] It is meant to help one overcome obstacles, which can be anything in the surrounding environment—from branches and rocks to rails and concrete walls—and can be practised in both rural and urban areas. Parkour practitioners are referred to as traceurs, or traceuses for females.[4]
"Founded by David Belle in France, parkour focuses on practising efficient movements to develop one's body and mind to be able to overcome obstacles in an emergency." -- Wikipedia.org
Parkour is a physical discipline inspired by human movement. It focuses on uninterrupted, efficient forward motion over, under, around and through obstacles (both human-made and natural) in one's environment. Such movement may come in the form of running, jumping, climbing and more complex techniques, such as combinations. The goal of parkour is to adapt one's movement to any given obstacle in one's path, with the mindset of doing so in a way that is the most efficient as you would run towards or away from an emergency. Our main focus is the practice and training of Parkour principles to overcome personal fears or obstacles, and be ready to help anyone in need no matter the situation. As a result of this philosophy, we also train various forms of martial arts and other self-defense practices.
Parkour: Half art, half sport: full discipline.

"MIAPK" started with only ideas: To bring Parkour to the city of Miami. To join with other like-minded individuals who shared the same passion for this Art. To create a movement, and behind that movement, have a purpose: Pass down the correct teachings and philosophies from the founders of Parkour.
To do this, we would need guidance, help, and most of all, friends. Friends who felt as we did, who had the same depth of dedication we had.
Those friends came in the form of "Parkour Miami", a tight group of friends and family led by Adrian, a personal fitness trainer who learned Parkour on his own. Adrian provided the necessary structure that Parkour dictates- mixing exercise regimes and Hell Nights with constant enforcing of proper techniques. Our greatest gains as a group were made during these first months, and our original ideas started to manifest.
There was no question in anyone's mind that the two groups should be joined, and "MIAPK.com" was born. The site, and the forum especially, was our main ways of communicating and welcoming anyone who wanted to join.
"Art of Movement" and MIAPK
The immediate success of MIAPK.com as a gathering point for traceurs in Miami and the South Florida area was short-lived, lasting four months and peaking in April of '08. A split over the moderation and administration of the website caused some members to leave and start MXF - Miami eXtreme Freerunners.
The effect of the group split inversely pulled all of us together into a tight-knit team. Falling out of touch with the newer members, and only training with other Core members, we isolated ourselves from the Miami Parkour community we had established, and sought only to make ourselves better.
Our re-entry into the community was brought about by "Art of Movement", another tight group of individuals with the same dedication as ourselves. Led by Spider, a professional stuntman, our two teams practiced together and learned from each other, branching out into other forms of expression like Freerunning and Tricking.
Now, armed with experiences of loss and gain, an extended philosophy and a greater determination to spread Parkour - MIAPK returns!
